I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14.
Today, I accept TheGypsyMama’s 5-minute Friday dare: yet a new tradition here on this blog
BEAUTY is the topic
Today, I forgot to remind myself that my identity is rooted in beauty.
I forgot to begin the day centered. I only saw the flaws in the mirror; the lies.
The irony is that as a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant, my business is centered on making each woman that crosses my path see and believe that she is beautiful.
But does beauty come from makeup, hair accessories, the latest fashion – outside adornments?
Or is beauty hidden in plain sight?
Is beauty church-gals catching up over coffee and laughing hysterically over the re-counting of scary experiences? Is it in the discovery of each other?
Is it the various shades of green found in nature & the bright hot sun?
Is it in the joy of a little girl who is happy to be picked up?
Is it in sampling letting go and being; being myself and living the life I am given now.
Beauty is here. Beauty is a choice to see what has already been there with new eyes.
See that you are beautiful. Just as, I am. Just as HE is, really.
How do you make your world more beautiful, simply by being you?
I am visiting from Five Minute Friday. I enjoyed reading your post.
ReplyDelete"Beauty" is a really hard topic for me and I struggled with my own post. I think that you wrote a great post. Have a great weekend.
I enjoyed your post, but this line grabbed my heart's attention: "Or is beauty hidden in plain sight?" Wow! So often, we allow the world to define our beauty, when God has already declared it...in plain sight...in the person he created in us! :)

Thanks for dropping by Suzanne.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right...beauty IS a hard topic.
I just jump over to your P.S. Annie blog and read your post. It's lovely! The beauty is that the word itself can invoke such diverse things in people. What I got from your post is that you see beauty as being intertwined with wholeness. Wholeness and healing are worth continuing to fight for. Have a great week!
Stacy, thanks for your beautiful words. It inspires me to continue digging, writing and sharing even the imperfect. Our God is clever, isn't He?! I loved your analogy of the moon and us simply being dirt. Our beauty is but a reflection of His. Enjoy your week!
